Days.........

9 days to go and on countdown. Doing as much as I can to keep in shape. Walking when I can and gym when time is limited - which is this week. One of those weeks. Going to Dorset on Saturday till Monday for my sisters silver wedding do. Not sure the festivities will assist but when in Rome etc. It would be rude of me not to partake! lol. Will walk a little on Sunday down there is I get the chance.
Had a nice walk yesterday up the pike and to the mast and had lovely company.
Kara brought back half of the bog on her coat to prove we had been!
Its 6.45am now and I am off to the gym. How serious is that?

12 Days to go.......

Can't believe it's nearly here. And time is something I am running out of - for training that is! I have just completed 22.4 miles today. Walked it back from work, Gatley to Bolton! Got soaked a few times, but was good to check out the waterproofs for the last time. I am hoping to go out again Tues, but depends on when my friend is discharged from hospital. Going to Dorset too on Sat for three days to my sisters silver wedding, and with work and minding my two adorable grandaughters, I am limited to when I can get out again. Will endeavour to keep up going to the gym tho, better than nothing.

Panic or What?

I can't believe there is only 16 days to go before I set off. Think the panic is because I missed three weeks of training. Will I be fit enough? I should be ok. Just me worrying. Going for a distance walk on Sunday just to prove to myself I am fit enough, and I see the consultant too tomorrow to get the all clear.
Nearly got all my gear now, and got the suitcase out ready.
Just got to download maps onto GPS system. Cant have me getting lost! You would all think you have gone deaf if I wasnt around! lol

Just to keep reminding you what I am doing and to convince myself too that I can do this!

27 Days to go

Countdown in days now and I am trying to catch up on the training. Walked just under 14 miles today, first decent walk since immobilisation.
Took the grandkids up to the Pike on Thurs for a gently stroll - walkers in training!
Then had a nice leisurely 7 mile walk at weekend, with Kara.
I will be honest, I was scared of doing that first walk - fears now conquered! Cant let the buggers get you down etc!
Boy, do my legs ache now tho! Will go to the gym tomorrow and get back into the serious training. I will and I can do this!
Need to walk everyday I can now, and will do my best.

Setback

Well, what a difference a week can make. Was all up to date with training, and had highlighted my weaknesses, then what goes and happens - only got admitted into hospital on Monday with bad asthma attack, to have further attack on Tuesday too! Had had a cough, which went worse, went to Dr's on Monday morning after work, and had bad attack in the surgery. Trust me, if yo9u are going to have an attack, where you can't breath, then have one at the doctors. No better place to be really, and it was as tho that is where I was meant to be.
Admitted straight to hospital, further attack Tuesday, but improved. Was on continuous oxygen and nebuliser's, pumped with steroids and antibiotics.
Shed lots of tears, felt very sorry for myself, felt very vulnerable, very frightened, felt a failure felt like all my work was in vain. Good news tho.........consultant says if I am a good girl, then there is no reason why I cant carry on!
So, for perhaps the first time ever, this lady is doing as she is told, resting as directed, taking medication and not working! You ever heard the like........ Well, there is a first for everything you know!!!!!
Watch this space, I will not be held back for long! Fingers crossed I can make up the time!

Training Update

On holiday in Gisburn at the moment, a great place to find walks and not get interrupted.
Met the Clitheroe local Ramblers group on Tues, and enjoyed a lovely 8 mile walk with them, starting from Sabden round Pendle Hill. It's surprising how many routes there are on that hill.
Today I decided to try out the new gadget, the new GPS. and set off on the Gisburn Circular. Managed to walk for ten miles and not get lost, so not bad.
Need to step up the training I think time is the issue tho, I really need to do more back to back walks. Next time I can do more serious walking is on the 11th April, so will have to settle for the gym meanwhile, which, sadly not been to for a week. I was struggling with really bad cold and working too. Not to worry. sure all will be fine, me just worrying. Time getting nearer. The good news is I have now got all the gear I need, and have sorted out the sock issue. Stick to what you know is my motto.
